What is lifestyle medicine

The Australasian Integrative Medicine Association describes integrative medicine as “a whole-person, patient-centered medical practice. It combines the best of conventional western medicine with evidence-based complementary medicine and therapies. These practices are combined to provide the highest level of safe, effective healthcare for our patients. Integrative Medicine reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, health care professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing. It takes into account the physical, psychological and social wellbeing of the person with the aim of using the most appropriate, safe and evidence-based treatments available." Alongside this we utilize the principles of lifestyle medicine that “provides an interdisciplinary, whole-system approach to the prevention and reversal of chronic and lifestyle-related diseases through the modification of the behavioural, social and environmental drivers.” -- Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine

What can I expect from my appointment?

All appointments are carried out online via Zoom or GoogleMeets (if you live on Auckland's North Shore or are a business in-person can be arranged). When your appointment is confirmed, you will be sent a link for your initial Discovery Call. Should you want to continue with my services then a consent form with costs etc. will be sent to you via email. For initial consultations, you will be also sent a pre-consultation questionnaire that we ask you send back at least two days prior to your appointment.

We do this so that we can spend more time during your appointment taking an in-depth assessment of your health and the factors that impact on your wellbeing.

Our sessions are approximately 60 mins.

Following your appointment, you will be sent a wellness plan which outlines what we discussed during your appointment.

Are there any other costs?

Our packages are inclusive of everything and detail what services you will receive.

How many appointments will I need?

Everyone is different and comes to us for a variety of reasons. Our package deals are a good starting point if you are unsure. If you are wanting individual sessions and not commit to a package, then we can discuss this with you at the time of your consultation.

How do I change my appointment?

We understand that life happens. If you need to change your appointment for any reason, get in touch with us directly through our contact page and we can change the date and time of your appointment provided you have given us the required 48 hours notice. Please note that if you do not show for your appointment and have not made contact, you will be charged at full cost.

What happens if I need to be referred to another service?

As a Health Coach it is not within my scope of practice to prescribe medication, or order lab work. For some people we work with, we discover that they may need or benefit from referrals to other services. We work collaboratively with a variety of trusted healthcare providers that will provide you with the specialised support you need. We make the referrals where needed after discussion with you.

Do I need to let my regular GP, or Specialist know that I’ve seen you?

You do not, however we encourage transparency and open communication with your GP as this ensures that you get the very best care from your wider healthcare team. We will discuss this with you at your session as it is up to you how much information that you want to share with them. If you do not want to us to share any information with your GP or specialist, we respect your decision and will keep your information confidential unless there is any risk to your safety or wellbeing – this will be discussed with you first.

What if I am not happy with the service I receive?

I pride myself in the services that I offer and therefore hope that you will be satisfied following your sessions. Should you however feel the service is not up to standard I request that you make contact with me in the first instance to see if your concerns can be resolved. If you are still unsatisfied you can request a full refund of any sessions not completed, and 75% of the services you have received. Please provide in writing your concerns about the service so that I can improve for future clients. Should you feel that I have stepped outside my scope of practice or breached any part of the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights you can refer your concerns to the Health and Disability Commissioner.

Do you offer any other packages that are not advertised?

I can custom make a package to suit you and your needs. Want to make lifestyle changes alongside friends, I can create a cost-effective package for your needs. In the corporate area and want a package that suits the health and wellbeing of your staff, then I can create a package exclusively for your company's needs.
